the downside to this ability is that it's possible for the user to contract memories they've witnessed, effectuating perplexity and confusion as to what memories are theirs or not.

For as long as Kanae can recollect, the grotesque sound of a neck snapping resonates with her accelerating heartbeat. Despair and grief coalesce together, bristling along her nerves as the noise of her ululation dissolves against the chirping cicadas and sweltering heat...
Kanae had always lived life in solitude.
Secrets didn't exist with her, and others loathed her because of that; because the possibility of her perceiving their affairs and misconduct petrified them, imbued fear and evoked hatred. She retained one vivid memory from her childhood, while the rest blended together ceaselessly; and it's not that she forgot anything, it's just that nothing else was simply prominent to her so her memories fused together in a heap of darkness.
And yet Kanae found strength in the novels she devoured unremittingly—unfolding between pages were stories that exuded boundless emotion, that conveyed a message. The human mind is capable of remembering things, clasping onto them continuously, yet when they're etched onto paper, you no longer have to hold them inside you... that sort of mindset is what spurred Kanae on into dreaming of becoming a detective. Once she heard countless rumors of a certain detective agency, she unconsciously found herself at their doorstep...

✚Has a tendency to go into detail about pathology when someone questions her about it. This, typically, evokes disgust from those around her. She's just intensely interested in it all - and is knowledge about how various diseases and viruses work. She also has a habit of mumbling to herself in the midst of thinking about it, if she's not discussing it with someone.
