MY HEART???  AAAAA I GOT HIM???

Amon is a former archivist that collected the dreams of those around him, endlessly fascinated by the things the mind can create and overjoyed at the prospect of limitless creativity!!  He used to love life and all those around him, and he genuinely delighted in the prospect of spending his centuries turning dreams into a craft, melding them into new things and harnessing their powers. But as he began to discover more, he began to discover just how much he didn’t know.  He began to see glimpses of other things in the dreams of others - the first stumbling breaths of the Abyss, it’s ragged, carrion-filled scent lingering at the forefront of his mind.  And it terrifies him more than anything ever has before.  He begins to realizes there’s so much we don’t know, there’s so much out of his control and beyond his comprehension.  In a desperate plea for control of his own mind again he tries to peer back into that Abyss and fails, leaving him terrified and hungry for more.  

So he turns into a man who fancies himself a martyr, someone who’s willing to make the sacrifices necessary to save everyone, or enlighten himself, or turn himself into a god - who knows man’s crazy!!!  Now obsessed with the idea of collecting other rarities and powerful beings like himself who have glimpsed the void and the abyss beyond, he pours over all of their dreams and their subconscious minds, delirious with the belief that there are truths to the universe lying in the minds of its creations, and if he sees enough and collects enough, he can click-click everything into place like puzzle pieces!!  Amon is now a man deluded with finding the truths of the universe, and he figures that if he gives the abyss some big show, he can coax down whatever -and whoever- lurks beyond 

and what’s a more holy show than sacrifice?

failing that, piercing the abyss with raw power he’s harvested from others works too
