Nao was the former gang leader, who died at the tender age of 22 in a gang warfare. He was a well-know and respected leader, and took under his wing numerous street-children. If he appeared kind, he was a ruthless strategist who perfectly knew that children who owned him their life will be the future most loyal members of his gang. He wasn't wrong, even if he never saw it with his own eyes. That didn't mean he didn't love them, especially Megumi, Emily and Alex who were his favorites, but there was a reason behind this nice gesture.
Nao fought his way in the gang, taking over the previous leader by killing him in front of the whole gang, thus formalizing his passage as the new boss. If he met at first a lot of resistance, introducing new strong new members, charming some of the aggravated old persons, killing those who wouldn't listen and beating the clan in shape to be one of the biggest and feared one in Tokyo quickly won over the resistant people.
He was snarky and cocky, a cold blooded killer but he loved his "family" to death and protected them dutifully. Better to never betray him, or the cruelest death awaited you.. Nao mentored Emily, Megumi and Alex personally, amusing himself with the obvious crush of Megumi on him. Never taking it too far, he found it amusing to make her push and push her limits to satisfy his growing exigences. Nao groomed Emily to be his right-hand, but his death pushed her instead at his place, as the new gang leader.

Trivia:
- Nao isn't really fond of children but somehow his gang is half-composed of teenagers. Well. That's life.
- Nao is cola addict. They always have a few packs in the HQ just in case of emergency. The leader can get pretty angsty without his daily shot.
- Nao is a smoker, and not only of cigarettes.
- He had long hair back in the days, but they were such a pain to maintain that he cut almost all off. The small braid is a memento to his shoulder length hairstyle.
