Backstory:

From a very early age, Dimitri Jacobs was always active, he was seldom seen sitting down quietly, and was often found either running around the house, or climbing up and down on stuff. Being a middle child of a big family, his parents thought Dimitri was merely trying to seek attention among his many siblings , and his antics were just a phase to stand out. 

However, as he grew up, his parents realized that not only Dimitri didn’t cease his antics of running and climbing around, but also he was seen fidgeting by playing with his hands or bouncing his leg, even on serious occasions, as if it was something beyond his control. Worse, Dimitri had gotten hurt more than once with his antics, not too serious but definitely concerning for a child, so the Jacobs were worried that what’s going on with Dimitri was more than just a quest for attention. At the age of 8 they took him to a doctor and it turns out, Dimitri was diagnosed with ADHD, explaining why he had a harder time sitting still or concentrating than his peers. Thankfully, since the diagnosis was done early, the Jacobs were able to get suitable treatment for Dimitri, as well as to try and find something interesting for him to focus all his energy on rather than potentially hurt himself again.

The couple regularly sent Dimitri to a youth center where he encountered and befriended many other children who were also on the neurodivergent spectrum, and more importantly, there was an array of recreational activities for him to try and see which ones were the most interesting. It was not easy finding what he was interested at first, but eventually during a sports session, Dimitri realized he had really enjoyed himself during those activities, he didn’t know why but when he ran, he felt he could run forever, having boundless energy not unlike that of his childhood. This proved to be really effective since when he was doing sports, Dimitri became really, really, focused, even showing some of his competitive personality for when he wanted to win or do well, he’ll do anything to achieve it. Of course, Dimitri still fidgeted from time to time and had a hard time staying still, but at least he was able to find something he loved and is willing to put a lot of effort into it.

Of course, being an active child, Dimitri had trouble paying attention in classes, especially during reading sessions or math. Being neurodivergent, Dimitri had additional help in his studies such as extended exam sessions and teachers staying after classes for tutoring sessions, as well as audio-fed information for him to revise while he was on his sports sessions. Yet however hard he worked, Dimitri had alright grades, but not enough to get him into a good university, so instead he enrolled in community college instead. He was alright with it though, and worked hard to graduate from his studies.

Shortly after he entered community college at 17, Dimitri participated in his first marathon around Rainbow Metropolis. He had run many times before, but it was the first time he had joined such an event. Dimitri only had one goal in mind: to be able to finish the entire course on his own; this was no simple task however, for halfway into the event, he stumbled and fell, the other runners quickly spreading to avoid falling with him. One runner however, a red velvet cake dragon foodie, slowed down and reached a hand out to Dimitri, asking if he was alright, and after helping him up, accompanied him to the nearest first-aid station. The foodie introduced himself as Damien Wong, and concerned, he stayed with Dimitri for the entire duration while he was being treated. Dimitri was declared unfit to finish the marathon, but before running off, Damien wished the best for Dimitri to get better and hoped to see him in future sports events around the city. That made Dimitri determined to train himself harder and stronger to finish the event for good next year.

Sometime later while he was jogging, Dimitri met Damien again to his surprise, who was also jogging at the time. The two then started sharing what happened in the time after the marathon and also on their current lives, where Dimitri learnt that Damien had moved to the city for his university education, and that he was currently studying finance. Damien told Dimitri that he and some of his buddies were planning on opening a gym downtown, and invited Dimitri to help them out. Thinking this was a good job opportunity, Dimitri agreed, and soon after, the gym, dubbed Muscle is Power was opened, and Dimitri joined the team as a fitness consultant, helping the people coming in by teaching them how to use gym equipment properly and also some tips on how to burn energy easily. Shortly after, he also worked hard in getting a trainer’s license, and began working as a fitness trainer at the gym center.

Dimitri grew close with his friend Damien, and the two often hung out while jogging. It got to the point where they dubbed the other as a brother by bond, and brought accessories to symbolize their friendship. His parents are very proud of this, happy that Dimitri has managed to find a good friend outside of the neurodivergent spectrum, and was proud of Dimitri ‘s development as an individual.
