Sophia

Sunlight falls into the room in thin strokes, a warm ribbon slithering in between the curtains. As the door creaks the shape on the bed moves slightly. After a beat it yawns, shifting. A second, another – a pair of black ears poke from under the blanket. One of them twitching in the direction of the intruder:

"Huh? Wh‐, why are you up so early?" another yawn sounds almost contagious, "What do you mean it's already noon!".

In one single push Sophia sits herself up, eyes wide – the sleepiness rapidly fading. Her pastel pink hair is flattened on the one side where she's pressed herself to the pillow too hard. She blinks, then blinks harder and rubs her eyes vigorously – staring at her paws for a moment as if they should do a better job at it.

"You should've woken me up sooner!" she whines, scrunching her nose as she starts to untangle herself from the covers, "I wanted breakfast pancakes, now they're gonna be dinner pancakes, oh c'mon!"
